For one, the upper is essentially a single seamless piece of leather, whereby only the tongue and heel tab are stitched on. While the original preferred thick, premium slabs of leather, the follow-up opts for suede, which provides the deep, burgundy-like finish a velvet appearance. Then, the lasered carvings burn into the seamless upper, creating the illusion that the mudguard, eye stays, quarter, and Swoosh are actually overlaid. Matching tonal branding and insoles atop a Sail midsole and translucent outsole completes the design.
